As long as the web page is nto some weird java or some kind of thing that don't work with a screen reader. I'll have to use some Java for status updates...but most of it should be dynamically generated, and hopefully will work with a screen reader. I'm assuming that you can fairly easily navigate standard webpages, dropdowns, option buttons (radio buttons, whatever you call them!) and such with a screen reader? Yes, as long as the screen reader sees it, if I can use a Windws PC to connect to the gs invert then I can use a more powerful screenr eader. But, I have IOS and Android. If one don't work I can switch to another.
The Blind Wolf
Also, if you can use HTML5 I know it works fine with any screen reader. Java is one of those very dark grey areas for most screen readers.

Absolutely. You can use any WiFi internet-capable device with a web browser to access the page. I am so hoping the inverters arrive ASAP...which if they do, they'll ship without the added feature (but can be added later via firmware update). If however the inverters are delayed further (thanks a lot shipping company), I might be able to get this feature added before they ship. Yup, I'm using HTML5 functions. Javascript only for page functionality. Plus a load of CSS thrown in for styling--ah, but you could care less about that 😉

The Blind Wolf
Nice, even if you don't get the updated firmware, I can have somebody help me setup the wifi part, and I'm guessing it will still have the web feature to click on upgrad firmware or do I got to do that from the GS? Firmware upgrade has to be done from the LCD screen, it is not accessible from the web configuration function. At least for now.
The Blind Wolf
Well, I did do html, perl, cgi, java, and other when I was sighted. Just when I went blind I just said the heck with it, since I can't see the web page to place the button where I want and all that other stuff. I used to run Orcal network with 6 PC's. was wanting to get into a job as a IT, but when I was hit with going blind. most compaines will not hire a blind person, since they think we are stupid or something since we can't see the green blinking light on the network cards and crap. I was going to ask Sean if he needed a person to handle phone calls and stuff, since I ain't got much to do, and right now nobody will hire a blind person these days with everybody fighting to find a job. The Blind Wolf
So I take it, that I got to have the GS inverter connect to my home wifi and then have the person go to upgrade firmware to update the GS?

Wouldn't hurt to ask. I mean, seriously, once we really get going with GS inverters, he'll need more help than he has right now. Now you'll probably get sick and tired of hanging up on robocallers asking about automobile warranties...but...it might be an option. You'd need to be able to write things down on a computer, but I suppose you're already doing that much already 😉

Basically. If it's connected to your WiFi network, the "WiFi" tab on the screen will show you (ahem, your friend...) if a firmware update is available; it's a pretty simple matter to update it from there. I would have to some pretty extensive work on the web interface to enable updating from the web interface.

I'm think I know how, is this wrighting? or typeing? 😛 Good, anything to keep Sean pumping out the inverters and not get so stressed out. Cause I'm stillw aiting for him to catch up on the so called pay pback 😛

Why not have it auto update? or well, never mind, that would probley shut down the power while updateing I'm almost guessing.

Exactly: yes, it has to shut down in order to update (as it reprograms the main CPU as well). This--as well as security--is why there is no way to auto-update the inverter remotely. The Blind Wolf
Well, if you going to have it be able to throw up a web page, and change settings could downloading the .bin file if that what the firmware is packed as be included on uploading the changes to the gs inverter from a computer? Seemed like it could be done. or have it send a code to the GS inverter connect back to the selected wifi name and download update and apply? Might be more then it can do. Just a thought. I believe that would be very possible. Lots of options...but a lot of work required to get 'em useable ;-). Probably I'll try to make a "front-end" page that you can connect to, and have a button to click for applying an update.

Sid Genetry Solar
Now that I've probably thoroughly confused you on the forum... 🤯. Thanks for the idea of a separate thread to discuss firmware stuff in. The Blind Wolf
Yep, no problem. I figured it was off topic for what we was talkinga bout, so I made a new Thread for it. 😛 Since I am not a fourm admin I was going to suggest moving it to the new one, but I see you done it. The Blind Wolf
Funny thing is, if I was working for Sean, I could used this forum for various questions as a knowledge Base. Of course I most likely would have a direct line to Sid if its one of those odd ball questions. Like, how do I hook it up to a Horse pulled Merry Go Around to power the GS inverter. I would definitely call Sid up since he is the master mind of all!!!

While you are doing that, there needs to be another section under PowerJack. Like "All Other PowerJack Items". You do know they make a step up/step down transformer unit , correct? Sid Genetry Solar
Not aware of it, though I am aware of their gas powered generator unit 😉
