Duranza
Hi guys. I bought an 8000 48v inverter thru amazon and the seller will not warranty it. As soon as I plugged the battery the mosfet caught fire. I have tried to replace the fets with 4110 and changed out the fets in the driver board and again when I apply battery voltage the fets catch fire. Anything Im missing? Thanks
Sid Genetry Solar
IRFB4110 are relatively "heavy" FETs from a driver perspective (compared to the PJ-spec FETs, which have almost 1/3 the drive requirements); however, this alone is somewhat unlikely to cause failure at no load. (The '4110s likely will fail under any significant load as a result.) When you say you "changed out the fets in the driver board", what parts do you specifically mean? Duranza
The NY and MY fets that went out on the driver.
Sid Genetry Solar
Those are bipolar transistors ("NY" = 2SA1213, "MY" = 2SC2873), and not FETs. Regardless, if they go, damage can go upstream on the control board. Gotta love the design... Unfortunately, there are no test functions on the PJ inverter (unlike a GS inverter), so it is extremely difficult to determine the cause of the issue without the aptly dubbed "parts cannon." Seeing as the inverter reportedly failed "out of the box", I wouldn't put it past bad soldering on the control board (especially the driver board connector) and/or cable/connector issues (and/or soldering issues!) on the rainbow ribbon cable to the mainboard.
dickson
Hi guys. I bought an 8000 48v inverter thru amazon and the seller will not warranty it. As soon as I plugged the battery the mosfet caught fire. Seller may not warranty but Amazon will refund if you did not try to fix it . If pay by bank credit then the bank will give the refund . Too late now and when the FETs catch fire the LF driver is gone and the control board is gone and the fire will destroy the trace on the mainboard . Most of the PJ on Amazon are refurbished or are obsolete and parts are not available . That why Sean will no longer repair PJ according his latest Youtube . NotMario
Like dickson said, Amazon purchases are covered by their A-to-Z guarantee. It's really hard to be denied a refund in the case of a defective product. The option to do this will be available directly on Amazon after contacting the seller. Amazon will take a few days to review the dispute.
