Firmware update error.

Tried to update my firmware today on my 6kw genetry inverter.  First attempt, failed,  second attempt the file said corrupt and failed again. Third attempt and now the screen has been stuck at Initializing updater for at least 30 min. Probably closer to an hour.  Any ideas?

Ugh.  Happens sometimes.  Try power cycling the inverter with the power switch.

If that doesn't work, pull power at the battery for a few minutes, wait until the screen goes out...power it back up, and then retry.

Am curious if this is an older firmware?  I had a pretty stupid bug in the update firmware (fixed in 1.1r0) that made it a wonder that updates were even possible ;-).  Just keep trying.

Thank you, I was hesitant to cycle power but after a few hours of nothing I did. Everything booted back up just fine. Tried to update again and it got stuck halfway through the download so I canceled it. I'll try again in the morning. Still has original software, this was from the initial pre-order and I received it in June.

I'm now where I wanted to be with this project last November, just never enough time in the day.

Just needed a nap. Tried again this morning and it went smooth as butter.

Very glad to hear 😉.

Yes, I've experienced random issues with updates on my bench...but I haven't been able to pin down the absolute cause.  Where your inverter locked up was trying to connect to the server to download the file.

That'd do it 😉.  Expect a huge number of improvements, feature changes, GUI updates, with the 1.1r5 you probably got.

Funny, I somehow missed initializing a variable in the updater routine--and the state of that variable was critical to it being able to actually update.  So it was a hit-or-miss proposition; I eventually discovered and fixed that in 1.1r0...so future updates should be far easier.

Worth noting that I have randomly encountered "soft bricking" issues.  Doesn't happen too often, but I have seen it.  ("Installing update"...power LED will go white, and it will fail the update within a half second.  Then when you restart the inverter, the power LED will remain white, and it won't boot up.  Retry the update again...usually works the 2nd time.  It's those random errors that are excruciatingly difficult to track down.)
