The Blind Wolf
Uhm, what do I do with a gs inverter that been drop over two stories from a loading dock?

Sid Genetry Solar
That's the master inverter. "Logo vent" on the one side looks slightly bent, but nothing serious. I don't see anything obviously wrong. The foam will be all broken up in the packaging; the factory hasn't made custom foam for us yet--probably because we keep tweaking the design. The Blind Wolf
The other one is fine, this one its must have been drop on its side, cause the bottem mounting is bent as well. and I think this is the master. not sure what you want me to do, I was going to break out my dc thing and slowly inch up on the voltage to make sure nothing is cooking. But, I figured I would get your take before proceeding.
The Blind Wolf
Shawn might want to consider on getting some stock 1 by 1 wood and place onlg the bottem with some padding. and dang that front end is heavy.
Sid Genetry Solar
Yeah, that sounds like a fair way to test it. You could start with 12 volts, if it's working, current should be ~135mA when powered on, and a loud buzzer (complaining about low battery voltage). This way it won't try to drive the FETs, you can make sure it's alive. Then if you power cycle it up at 24v, it should start--or blow up 😉. Kinda no middle ground I'm afraid. Sid Genetry Solar
You think this inverter is heavy, you should try the 12kw 😉.
The Blind Wolf
Okay, getting the dc out and putting it on 12v. wish me luck. . .
Sid Genetry Solar
If it's working, apart from the beeper, the fans might also spin up at 12v. At power-on, it should run the fans to full throttle for a few seconds, then back off. I'm not sure if they'll actually run at 12v though. The Blind Wolf
Great news, the 12v test work, then I cranked it up near 28 and it fired up with no issue, now got it hooked to the power bank doing my washer and my two freezers at the moment, just to see if I can make it beg for a bisket. *laughs* Dang that thing pushes out air, its almost like a jet taking off. The Blind Wolf
Yes the fans kicked on even at plain 12v. surprised.

Glad it's working for you. Probably not working up much of a sweat at all with your washing machine.
Sid Genetry Solar
Once I get the new GS designs off to the PCB factory, then I'll get back to the code stuff, adding the local network features you need.
The Blind Wolf
Well, I'm washing clothes, while having it run the two chest freezers, and cooking a Pizza with my air big old air cooker, got done with that now running the dish washer while enjoying my pizze. The fans kicked on and off ever so often for about 5 saeconds then shut off. I be watching my 12v bms and it showing output of 30a, some I'm guessing that means 30a 24v. and no, its not even struggeling, the PJ would have begged to be shot if I did what I just did. I'm not pushing ti too muich, watching the battery wires and such. the ones I built seemed to get a little warm. but, I don't have it all hooked up like it should any how, just four postive wire going to a bolt to the main wire that going to the inverter at the moment :P. the bolt getting a little bit hot, but thats cause I don't have it super tight, just want to see how things go and run low power things to draing the batts, the volt is staying around 25.99v when its under a 30a load and jumps back up to 26.46v when not much of a load. The Blind Wolf
And no, there wasn't no balancers, so can't even mess with my other two battery banks. *Pouts*

The Blind Wolf
Uhm, one design change if you don't mind, and really would need to be for the 12k as well. longer terminal bolts please. the lugs I got on it, well I can only put one of them on it. . . that why I like the pj kind of setup :P. I was going to jump off one gs inverter to another, but can't cause the bolts ain't long enough.

Those battery terminal bolts are actually fairly long by comparison to the fully covered battery terminal bolts that I'd like to switch to. Sean Genetry Solar
Ok I am jumping in here after reading through the threads. First, this is the first major shipping issue we have seen. I am wondering how you know it was dropped and if you have some sort of proof I can make a complaint especially considering that the unit may in fact fail before 1 year and I can hold them liable for that. Second, I hate to say it but you are also a good drop tester. Considering how hard it was dropped and its still running fine is a testament to Sid's design (tiny bit of me too). The extra thick case, the transformer bracket, small board with brass risers, etc. We built it to be able to handle the worst in shipping thanks to my experience with power jack and their shipping nightmares that come across my bench almost every day. Third, yes I did forget the balancers. That's my fault. I will get this fixed up and sent out in the morning. Forth, I am happy to not see your name in my Pending orders anymore and I hope you continue to share your experience with us. Fifth, Those fans are custom and I am sending you replacements of our own design when they come in here that you can keep in case those fans you have fail. The fans in that unit are fast but have a narrower voltage range than our 48V custom fans do so I will send off a custom 24v set with our larger voltage range when they come in. They are not our in house design. While they will certainly work great for a long time we expect 10 year use from our custom fans and you should not be short changed because we could not get enough of our custom 24v fans in. Enjoy! and keep sending us pictures and load pictures and screen lcd pictures. common!
The Blind Wolf
Sid, there is something strange going on though and the pj didn't do this. its making my washer not run as it should, its like it cutting it off or something.

Well, it was somehow I think drop on its side, like I said, the side mont is bent a little too, like it took the brunt of the drop, not sure how the one part of the grill was bent though. I just took it out the box, sit it on the creat, and saw it. you can see the paint scuffed a bit under the unit where it bent. Its fine though, but like I'm posting above this, seems there is something going on.

Sean Genetry Solar
been running loads of laundry on my GS6 most the day with no issues, not saying your washer is the fault but so far its working great for me, im sure its something small that sid can fix over the air
The Blind Wolf
This is a Maytag Direct Drive digital motor unit. I also got a counter top dish washer going right now as well, but I've already had to restart the cloth wash because it just started going nuts, like really nuts. and even right now its doing strang things again, my voltage is at 26.14v
