Batteries and Sources

Splitting this off a bit, we have been chatting about batteries from multiple sources.  I currently have some coming from AliExpress should be here in a few more days I hope just got handed off to FedEx.

My last build was with LiFePo4 38120 batteries they are awesome, but also cost me a bundle.  Before that was 26650 LifePo4 cells.  My only rule has been don't buy used cells, although I am not sure if some that I have purchase were used or not, I just make every attempt to make sure their new.

Well back in the old days finding batteries you had to keep your sources hidden didn't want someone to buy them all.  Like the 26650 batteries they used to be super hard to find new cells well then a big batch got made a few years ago and it got easier to find them.  Now it seems the market has exploded with options I am overwhelmed I guess that is good.

These bigger cell batteries that China is selling wonder what ones your buying and any tricks you have learned.

Haven't bought any yet, though the price is pretty tempting.

If others have bought them and can confirm that they're good for the price/quality, etc., we'll soon be doing FCL (full container load) shipments of inverters, and could easily throw a couple pallets of LiFePo4 batteries in the container.  Price doesn't change by weight, so once the container is paid for, pretty much anything can go in it.  Might be worthwhile...

That would be cool not sure how to set that up like have items shipped to like a PO Box and then they can load them in the container.  Would be neat for parts as well, like have them send you a selection of parts for testing.

We'd have to order the items, and get all of them sent to the same shipping company container drop in China, then import the entire container (tariffs + shipping, etc.)  But as far as weight goes, the container weight doesn't change the shipping cost--so apart from import fees on the items, costs would be minimal.

Entire container would go to Genetry Solar warehouse, and then the items could be shipped out via UPS/FedEx, etc.

Guess what I'm saying is that if those LiFePo4 "pouch" batteries are good quality, we could get them shipped here for a reasonable price, then shipped out to customers, so individuals don't have to go through all the paperwork to get them shipped.

Definitely something to think about in the future.  Some details to hammer out for sure, but makes sense.

I am thinking over time hoping some others post their experiences and we find some good batteries.

Got first batch of batteries Friday, split them up to fit in my budget. So plan is to have 16 so 8 more coming well after I test these if everything is good will order more.  Made some DIY bus bars so hope those work out put them all in parallel so charging super slow with about 13 Amps but this is my preferred method to get them all balanced together.

Ran a load test on the batteries.  Pretty happy with these so far.  I didn't want to push it too far since I am at 4S and there is only 200Ah so kept it below 200Amps.  Picture of my central display system I built too.  So lots of beta type stuff going on.  172 Amps the voltage drop wasn't too bad at 12.26 Volts.
