wpg205
I'm now at the joyful part of my GS journey - playing with my inverter settings before putting everything together for the final set up. I'd like to adjust two settings. First - low voltage protection. I see that there is an E and A setting, what are they specifically? Secondly, there is a low energy mode correct? Is there a way to set the inverter to go into low energy mode when there is no load on it, but then for it to turn back on when there is? I guess my third question is, does the WIFI board connect to wifi or does it send out its own network that I connect to? And once I connect to the inverter via wifi, how do I view data/interact with it? Sorry if these questions have been answered elsewhere. Generally speaking, the wifi board and inverter rock so far. Very easy to use and set up.
Sid Genetry Solar
Sorry, I so desperately need to write a manual.... The (very outdated) WiFi manual back before GS inverters has a lot of the general concepts...which should help considerably. 24 minutes ago, wpg205 said: I'd like to adjust two settings. A = Alarm = bother you 😉 24 minutes ago, wpg205 said: Secondly, there is a low energy mode correct? You'll need to set the "Inv Mode" to "Auto" or "PWRSav" to activate this feature. "Auto" will automatically enter Power Save mode if the battery voltage falls below a specified setpoint--so during the day the inverter is always on, and at night it's in power save mode. PSav TMR: the "+" number is the "load check" duration in seconds; the "-" number is the time between "load checks". PSav Min: the minimum load in Watts required to hold the inverter in "on" state. PSav Trg: "Auto" Power Save Threshold Voltage. Below this voltage it'll be in "Power Save" state. 27 minutes ago, wpg205 said: I guess my third question is, does the WIFI board connect to wifi or does it send out its own network that I connect to? And once I connect to the inverter via wifi, how do I view data/interact with it? Sorta both, actually. WiFi setup is via a generated network, where you can connect your phone to the inverter, and specify which WiFi network to connect to. The inverter then connects to that WiFi network, and relays data via a cloud MQTT server (if enabled); this is also required for firmware updates. You can create an account on "wifi.genetrysolar.com" (sorry, 3 accounts for all of Genetry Solar...we'll try to fix this sometime!), register your inverter on the server, and view it from anywhere in the world. You can also ping the MQTT server yourself if you would like. (Yes, I know, I need to write a manual for that too...) In the plans is a local server (mDNS or otherwise), where you can connect directly to the inverter on a local network, and read data from it that way. Just will take a firmware update to add that once I finally get to it.
Sid Genetry Solar
You can still download the (very outdated) WiFi board manual here: https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5c728648ebfc7fc0696f1308/t/5e84e4bef47b1b12ac1c9f99/1585767620905/WiFi+Board+Manual+(1.0r16).pdf
wpg205
Thanks, this is great. Definitely looking forward to the manual but in the meantime the forum is priceless.
